Webcam Photo Booth: Retro Strips From Your Laptop Camera
Turn the camera on your laptop or PC into a photo booth. The booth shoots frame by frame on a countdown, applies your filter, and hands you a watermark-free strip. No app, no signup, nothing uploaded.

Three steps
Take webcam photo strips in three steps
Allow the camera
Click Allow when your browser asks. The feed is read locally and never uploaded.
Pose for the countdown
A 3-2-1 timer takes each frame, the way a real booth shoots a strip.
Download the strip
Tune the filter and caption, then save a print-ready PNG or JPG.
Look good on camera
Photo booth setups that work on a laptop
Light your face from the front
Face a window or put a lamp behind the laptop. Webcam sensors struggle with backlight, and a front light keeps the strip sharp.
Raise the camera to eye level
Stack a few books under the laptop. The most flattering webcam angle is straight on, not up from the keyboard.
Plan four poses first
Booth frames go by fast. Decide on a smile, a silly one, a candid and a group shot before the first flash.
Troubleshooting
Webcam not working? Four fixes that take a minute
The browser never asked for permission
Open the padlock or camera icon in the address bar, set Camera to Allow, then reload the page. The booth cannot reach the camera until you do.
Black screen or camera in use
Another app is holding the camera. Quit video-call apps such as Zoom, Meet or FaceTime entirely, then reload.
Your system blocks the camera
Check system settings: on macOS, Privacy & Security, then Camera; on Windows, Camera privacy settings. Your browser must be listed and enabled.
Camera works elsewhere but not here
Try a different browser. Older versions and some private windows block camera feeds in web apps.
Still stuck? The full walkthrough covers phones too: use a photo booth on iPhone and laptop.
Questions, answered
Webcam photo booth FAQ
How do I allow camera access in my browser?+
When the browser asks, click Allow. Missed it? Click the padlock or camera icon in the address bar, set Camera to Allow, then reload the page.
Why is my webcam showing a black screen?+
Usually another app is holding the camera. Close video-call apps like Zoom, Meet or FaceTime completely, then reload the booth.
Can I use an external USB webcam?+
Yes. The booth uses whichever camera your browser reports as active, so plug the webcam in, select it in your system camera settings if needed, and start shooting.
Does a webcam photo booth work on a MacBook?+
Yes. Open the site in Safari or Chrome, allow camera access, and the FaceTime camera works like any other webcam. No install needed.
Is a webcam photo booth different from a digital photo booth?+
A webcam photobooth is built around the live camera on your laptop or PC. A digital photo booth is the broader idea of a booth without film. If you want to use pictures you already have, the digital photo booth page is the better fit.
